Obituary for John R. Frantz Jr.

John R. Frantz Jr., 93, of Londonderry Twp., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 24, 1924 in Londonderry Twp., and was the son of the late John R. Sr. and Berth D. (Stine) Frantz.
John was retired from the Federal Government where he was a civil engineer. After his retirement he became a self-employed general contractor for nearly 18 years.
He was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII. He was in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of The Buldge earning 4 Battle Stars and 2 Purple Hearts.
John was a member of the American Legion Post 594 and the Odd Fellows Lodge, both of Middletown. He was also a member of the Order of the Purple Heart Local 15088.
He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, gardening, but his greatest joy was his children and family.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandi L. Sral and two sisters, Madeline Schwanger and Elinor Cunningham.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Harriet G. Frantz; five children, Edna L. Frantz of Elizabethtown, Jody M. Frantz of Londonderry, Linda I. Fenice and her husband Jeffrey of Camp Hill, John E. Frantz and his wife Amy of Bainbridge and Wayne J. Frantz and his wife Jenny of Carlisle, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A tribute to his life will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at 11:30 AM at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown with the Rev. Richard Vaughn officiating. Viewings will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2017 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM and from 10:30 AM until the time of services Wednesday, both at the funeral home.
Burial with full military honors will be in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
