Obituary for Shirley G. Housman

Shirley G. Housman, 87, of Middletown entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Middletown Home.
She was born on February 2, 1930 in Chambersburg and was the loving daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy (Rickert) Renshaw. She was a proud resident of the Oberlin community for over 25 years.
Shirley was a member of the Neidig Memorial United Methodist Church in Oberlin where she also served as the secretary for 39 years as well as a member of the United Methodist Women .
She was a graduate of Swatara High School class of 1947.
Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends. Every year on their anniversary Shirley and her husband would take a trip to Williamsburg because they enjoyed sightseeing and shopping for their grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Ben Housman Sr. to who she was married for 61 years.
Shirley is survived by her son, Ben G. Housman Jr. and his wife Anita of Londonderry Twp; daughter, Cindy L. Gundy and husband Del of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Katie Mae and Trystan Housman, Taylor and Bryan Gundy.
A tribute to Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Neidig Memorial United Methodist Church, 1251 Highland St., Harrisburg, 17113 with Pastor Steve Cowfer and Rev. Robert Graybill co-officiating. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Saturday at the church.
Interment will be at Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Middletown Home for all their care and support.
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions made in Shirley's name to her church.
