Obituary for Sylvia V. Butler

Sylvia V. Butler
Sylvia V. Butler, 95 of Middletown entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born December 3, 1921 in Storm Lake, Iowa and was the loving daughter of the late Arthur and Iola (Shaffer) Haarup.
Sylvia is a former member of the Middletown American Legion Post 594 and Middletown Elks Club.
She was an avid bingo player where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. If there was a yard sale in the area you could find her browsing through.
Sylvia was a dedicated mother and grandmother to her son and grandson and would talk about them any chance she had.
In addition to her parents Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Butler to whom she was married for 50 yrs; infant daughter, Judy K. Butler and brother, Donald Haarup.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Donald Butler and wife Barbara of York; grandson, Derek Butler of York; sister, Pearl Welmerling of Elizabethtown; brother, Dwight Haarup and wife Alice of Ohio; brother-in-law, Thomas Butler and sister-in-law, Dolores Campbell.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Middletown Cemetery, 675 N. Spring St. Middletown, PA.
In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
The family had entrusted the care of the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 East Main St. Middletown, PA 17057 with the funeral arrangements.
